Eight Years Later: Wendy’s Legacy Continues

West Palm Beach, FL. September 18, 2026 

Today, September 18, marks eight years since we lost Wendy Martinez. As we remember Wendy, we are proud to share how her legacy continues to create meaningful impact.



FiscalNote recently completed its “Move a Mile for Wendy” challenge, with 60 FiscalNoters participating and a $3,000 contribution made in Wendy’s honor to support her legacy and the work of The Wendy Martinez Legacy Project.

We are also working with Latinas in Tech D.C. to develop the Wendy Martinez Legacy Scholarship for Women in Tech, supporting women beginning or advancing careers in technology. We are especially proud that Wendy has been recognized as a Posthumous Founder Emerita of the Latinas in Tech D.C. Chapter.

And this January, Keith Fernandez and Juan Carlos Martinez will represent Team Wendy by completing a half marathon during Disney Marathon Weekend. Our fundraising campaign will begin in October to help support TWMLP’s mission and continued impact.

Eight years later, Wendy’s legacy is not measured only by how deeply she is missed, but by the lives that continue to be moved, inspired, and strengthened because she was here.

We carry her forward in every opportunity created, every mile run, and every life touched in her name.
