The Wendy Martinez Legacy Project Expands its Tradition of Giving Back

TWMLP awards doubles down on support to charity partners and fundraises for Back On My Feet.

Washington, D.C. September 27, 2021. The Wendy Martinez Legacy Project (TWMLP) has expanded its support to communities in Washington, D.C. and South Florida with the distribution of $45,000 in new grants and dedicated fundraising efforts to support one of its grantees, Back On My Feet (BOMF). These resources are intended to continue helping communities navigate the COVID-19 crisis and to expand the delivery of critical programming during this time.

TWMLP, founded by the family and friends of Wendy K. Martinez and sponsored by her former employer FiscalNote, is committed to keeping the generous and loving spirit of Wendy alive. This September, three years after Wendy's passing, it is doing so by empowering organizations that drive positive change in the community and provide support to women, girls, and families.

This year's giving continues operating at the intersection of TWMLP's guiding pillars, which prioritize support to women and girls and efforts that promote community engagement with a focus on running. In addition, to celebrate Wendy's life through her favorite support, TWMLP joined the BOMF 2021 Virtual Race as "Team Wendy," breaking its $1,500 fundraising goal to support the organization's efforts to combat homlessness through running.

About the Wendy Martinez Legacy Project
Wendy Martinez was the victim of a senseless crime, which took her life while she was running near her home in Washington, D.C. While the perpetrator took her life, her legacy and memory live on in the hearts of family and friends who loved her and who are dedicated to keeping her light shining. At the time of her death, Wendy had just become engaged to Daniel Hincapie and was planning for her wedding. She was the Chief of Staff at FiscalNote, a technology and media company headquartered in Washington, DC. FiscalNote is now a generous supporter of TWMLP. Wendy is survived by her parents Cora and Juan Carlos Martinez and her brother, Juan Carlos Jr.
